Children & Youth
“Train children in the way they should go;
when they grow old, they won’t depart from it.”
~ Proverbs 22: 6 (@Contemporary English Bible version)
Passing on the Word of God to the young is one of the most important missions of the body of Christ. Faith Lutheran is committed to fulfilling this mission and passing on the faith to the next generation.
Sunday school meets at 10:00am between worship services. Sunday school is centered around interactive biblical storytelling. Sunday school classes are designed to be accessible for children of all ages, but people ages 5 and up will be engaged and enjoy being a part of bringing to life these sacred stories. Sunday school is held in the nursery. On special occasions the Sunday school classes join with the adult education classes for fun, interactive, service activities such as wrapping presents for the Fire Department to give away, and packing meals to be sent around the world.
Children’s Worship area
Faith Lutheran welcomes folks of all ages and abilities. Young ones are welcome to join in all parts of worship with us at the Children’s Worship Area. Here, they can be close to the music and activity of the worship service in the sanctuary in a space that feels comfortable and welcoming, and is just for them. Seating is available for parents close by, and staff will help the children engage in the many parts of worship in a variety of ways: hearing, feeling, playing instruments, moving, singing and dancing. The Growing Room (formerly called the Cry Room) will be open as well, as an extension of this space.
Middle School and High School youth events happen monthly and often involve eating a meal together, discussion, fun physical activity, and service to the community. Faith Lutheran joins with St. John's Episcopal for a yearly trip to the Baja California peninsula of Mexico, serving at Rancho Santa Marta, a school and orphanage for differently-abled children. Here, our youth work on construction projects for the school while connecting with our brother and sisters in Christ south of the border.
7th through 9th-graders are invited to learn more about their Faith as Lutherans by participating in weekly evening confirmation classes. 9th graders are invited to affirm their baptism on Reformation Sunday.
