God's Work, Our Hands Set for September 11

On Sunday September 11th, in lieu of worshipping together in church, we will be worshipping by using our hands to join in doing God’s work together.

This year we will be joining members of Bethel AME Church located at the corner of 9th and Linden Streets in Chapmantown to help them with grounds work and maintenance of their church. FLC and Bethel volunteers will also provide childcare and activities at Faith Lutheran for children from both churches. What a wonderful opportunity to fellowship with each other and to spur one another on to love and good deeds!

Thrivent “Live Generously” funds have been secured to purchase food for volunteers and supplies for the work. An anonymous donor has also offered to match up to $250 for additional funds to support this service work. Offerings can be placed in the box on the altar.

We will be meeting at Bethel AME Church at 821 Linden at 8:30 am on September 11th for a Blessing the Hands and then work until 11:00. Communion and lunch will follow at Faith Lutheran Church.

Roll up your sleeves, dress in your work clothes, bring gardening tools from home, and be ready for a fun day of working side by side with our Christian brothers and sisters at Bethel AME. Work crew sign-ups are on back bulletin board and include projects for people of all ages. If you have a t-shirt from last year’s event, please wear it.

Please bring the following supplies if you have them: Rakes, weed wackers, garden gloves, blowers, extension cords, push brooms, hedge trimmers, pruning shears, leaf blowers, shovels and hoes. Questions? Ask Marge Troester or any Social Ministry Team member.
