Faith Lutheran is a community that believes in prayer. As a result, we have several prayer ministries that you can get involved in or use as a resource in difficult times. Here are some of them:
Meets every Tuesday from 4:00–5:00pm in the Prayer Room. We use the contemplative prayer method of Father Thomas Keating. Newcomers to the practice, as well as those with experience are welcome.
A brief reading is offered, followed by a 20 minute contemplative sit using the lectio divine (reading the word wit the heart), followed by voluntary naming of what stood out to each listener. There is instruction available for newcomers.
Meets every Wednesday from 5:00–6:00pm in the Prayer Room. This is mostly a silent prayer process that focuses on your own spiritual journey. All are welcome!
Healing Prayer Ministry
On the third Sunday of each month, there is a healing prayer minister during communion. The healing prayer that is used is a liturgical prayer. The person asking for prayer may give specific requests for themselves or someone else if they so desire. Prayer requests are kept confidential. Each healing prayer minister serves 3 to 4 times per year. If you are interested in becoming a healing prayer minister, please contact Caryl Quinones or the Church Office.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
This past fall, the Loaves & Fishes team began a Prayer Shawl ministry. The completed shawls are given to people in physical or emotional need, in times of loss and grief, or at milestones such as graduation, weddings, the birth of a child, etc. Of you have skill or would like to learn how to knit or crochet and can give your skill and time to this loving ministry, contact the Church Office. If you can donate yarn or funds to help support the ministry, this would also be helpful. The suggested yarns are:
- Lion Brand Homespun
- Caron's Fascination
- Red Heart Light & Lofty
- and Lion Brand Jiffy
These brands are available at Michaels, Walmart, and Joann's.
