Michael Cassetta. March 21, 1943 – February 22, 2026.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Cassetta, who passed away peacefully in Chico, California on February 22, 2026, at the age of 82, surrounded by his family.
Michael was born on March 21, 1943, in San Francisco, California, to Josephine and Joe Cassetta. Raised in San Francisco, he was fortunate to spend his summers in Redwood Valley in Mendocino County, where he rode horses, camped beneath the stars, explored the outdoors, and enjoyed swimming holes with his many cousins. Those early years shaped his lifelong love of nature, family, and adventure. Michael was committed to public service and devoted 35 years of his life as the Glenn County Health Services Director. He was deeply committed to serving his community and those in need. Michael was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. He believed strongly in giving back. In addition to his professional career, he volunteered his time with service organizations such as Kiwanis, Elks and served as chair of the retired Public Employees Association Chapter 77, reflecting his generous spirit and dedication to helping others.
He loved fishing, camping, reading, music, playing cards, and spending time outdoors. More than anything, he cherished time with his family. Michael had a gentle heart and a kind soul. He was easy-going, steady, and always there for others. He was cherished by many and will be remembered for his quiet strength, warmth, and unwavering love for his family.
Michael was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Linda. He is survived by his wife, Roseanna; sons, Craig (Lourdes) and Mark, grandsons, Joseph and Nicolas, sister Roberta Marcott (Shannon), two nephews Ryan Mell (Rebecca) and Michael Curl (Vanessa) and his stepfather, Hans Wold.
A memorial service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church in Chico on March 14, 2026, at 2PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael’s memory may be made to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the North Valley. Michael’s legacy lives on in the family he loved so deeply and in the community he faithfully served.
