Stonewall Chico Pride is on for September! And since it's virtual, that means Faith needs to get creative. The staff met with Alyssa, Stonewall's coordinator, last week. You can read the minutes from our meeting here. In a nutshell, here are our plans:

Worship Service - Wednesday, September 23 at 7pm
We did awesome work at last year's Pride; we spent over a month putting together hand made arts and crafts, planning the booth, and educating ourselves on different genders and sexualities. But the one thing we didn't do was conduct worship. Adhering to our usual required-masks-and-temperature-check policy, we will be inviting the Chico community to join us in worship. This will feel similar to our usual Sunday worship, however we hope to bring more art and a variation of music to the table, including splatter-painting a giant banner!

Mask Making
Last year we made postcards and bracelets...and this year we'll make masks! Char Miller and the quilters are already making colorful face masks. 100 masks reflecting different genders and sexualities (the colors of their flags) will be available during worship. We are entertaining the idea of making even more masks, so if you're interesting in making some please let the office know! Purchasing materials is within our budget; we just need to know what kinds of material to get.

Painting Glass Rocks
Stonewall will be hosting drag storybook time during their showcase. Before storytime, Colter (not acting as a representative of Faith, but on behalf of the Chico community) will be painting glass rocks with kids. Though this is not an FLC event, all the kids at Faith are welcome to attend, along with any other kids in the community! Materials will be delivered to your door for your kids to use during the online craft session, date TBD. When all of the glass rocks have been painting they can be submitted to Stonewall to create a big, beautiful mosaic!

So if you are interesting in helping out during worship, making masks, submitting a work of art, or have any other ideas, please call Michael at the office at (530) 895-3754 or email him at faithlutheraninchico@gmail.com.
