Each week, Pastor Ben will send out reflection questions based on the previous week's sermon. These questions are to encourage you to connect the scriptures to your own life and to invite you to grow deeper in your relationships with others at Faith by discussing the questions together. This week's questions are based on the sin of greed.

SERMON: Our transactional greed limits what is possible, but Christ's transformative relationship unleashes what is possible.

SCRIPTURES: PHILIPPIANS 3:4B-14 and JOHN 12:1-8

QUESTIONS:

1) Pastor Ben describes three kinds of greed: A) Greed that sees money as a game of accumulation in which the dollar amount on your portfolio is a way to keep score. B) Greed that sees money as a status symbol to be flaunted to earn praise and respect. C) Greed that sees money, time, and people as resources to be managed for security and which turns all of life into a series of transactions. To which type of greed do you most relate and how has it affected your relationships?
2) Who are the people in your life with whom your only interactions are transactional?
3) Tell a story of when you interacted with someone expecting only a transaction but instead experienced a transformative relationship.
4) Mary's act of pouring perfume on Jesus' feet is dismissed by Judas as useless, but in so doing Mary enters into a profound and transformative relationship with Christ. How might God be pouring Christ into your life right now in ways that you dismiss as useless?
