Happy November FLC family! It's common for people to come in looking for basic amenities, however, many people don't actually have a place to store the supplies we hand out. When we do have bags to give away, the bag itself ends up being as much of a blessing as whatever else we provide. Sometimes we have actual bags on hand but when we don't, my option in the past has been to give away a trash or grocery bag. Is it better than nothing? Yeah. But you can see why it feels tactless. Plus, those bags don't last!

My birthday is at the end of November and I'm asking you for a present! If you have a backpack you don't need anymore, please donate it to me. I would also like socks, water bottles, and granola bars. Please restrict your donations to these 4 items as my workspace is limited and I would like to focus on essentials. So please: backpacks, socks, granola bars, and water bottles! The staff and I are frequently covid-tested and these items will be packaged by yours truly with my own two sanitized, covid-free hands.

If somebody you know needs food or shelter, please refer to our church's resource page here: https://www.chicofaithlutheran.org/about/resources--17 . The places listed here are specifically equipped to feed or house people. But having these backpacks on hand is a small blessing to those who need them right then and there. Other important info:

*Please don't donate other clothing! As I mentioned my workspace is limited and I have designated it to what is arguably the most important essential item to those who may live outdoors especially in winter: socks.

*As crass as this sounds, please only donate granola bars - no other food. As a covid precaution, FLC has not been providing food to any member or visitor since March. However, we still do food drives and I feel comfortable accepting packaged granola bars.

*Items can be dropped off any Tuesday in November between 10am-3pm.
